Greenbushes to Bunbury Rail Project – Detailed Feasibility Study
Talison Lithium, in collaboration with the State Government, the Southwest Development Commission, Arc Infrastructure and Aurizon are undertaking a study to investigate the feasibility of recommissioning the Greenbushes to Bunbury railway.
If recommissioned the rail line will be used to transport lithium mineral concentrate from the Greenbushes Lithium Operation to Bunbury. Moving lithium mineral concentrate off road and onto rail will help to reduce the number of truck movements along the South-Western Highway.
APRIL 2024 UPDATE
The Detailed Feasibility Study (DFS) is reaching its half-way point, with the team progressing a range of environmental, economic, engineering and social studies.
We are hoping to be in a position mid-year to start sharing some of the results from these studies. This will involve arranging community engagement sessions. These sessions will provide an opportunity to seek further feedback, so that your insights are well represented in the outputs of the DFS.
Details regarding the DFS and answers to frequently asked questions are being updated as the study progresses. With this in mind, a new version of the DFS factsheet is available at the bottom of this page.
